To all the friends, neighbors, and artists out there,

I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Princeton Art Guild. Stepping into this role feels both exciting and deeply meaningful — not just because I’ve spent years in the arts and museum world, but because this is home. I’ve returned to Princeton because I believe in the creative power of small towns and in the incredible potential of this community.

The Princeton Art Guild has long been a space for art, learning, and connection. But I want us to imagine it as something even bigger: a gathering place where everyone feels they belong — not just practicing artists, but anyone who believes that creativity strengthens the spirit of a town.

The Art Guild is Stone Soup

I often think of the old story of Stone Soup:A stranger arrives in a village with nothing but a pot and a stone. Curious, the villagers gather around. One by one, they add what little they have — a carrot, a potato, a bit of spice — and soon, together, they’ve made something nourishing and wonderful for everyone.

That’s how I see the Princeton Art Guild. We have the pot — the space, the heart, the invitation. But it’s your ideas, your creativity, your presence that make the soup.

What’s Next?

In the coming months, I’ll be working with the board and the community to:

✅ Expand membership and make sure anyone who wants to join feels welcome

✅ Launch new programs, classes, and events for all ages and skill levels

✅ Build partnerships with local businesses, schools, and neighbors

✅ Celebrate the creative spirit that already lives right here in Princeton

Join Us!

If you’ve ever wondered whether the Art Guild is “for you,” the answer is simple: yes. We want you here — whether you’re a painter, a quilter, a woodworker, a doodler, or simply someone who loves the idea of creativity shaping community life.

Let’s make something beautiful together. Let’s stir the pot.

With gratitude and excitement,

Joe Duncan
